Or should I say “reissued” in this case? Either way, I wanted to share about the new pedals that I got.

*RITCHEY* Montebello (XS)

I ride my Ritchey Montebello on Brevets and as my daily. I had been using MKS clipless pedals for the past few years. (The pedals in the pic is the US-S pedals)

I’ve done 200km and 300km brevets so far, but I haven’t experienced knee pain yet. I think this is mainly because of the MKS clipless pedals. I’m saying this because I have had times where I used clipless pedals from other brands and had a weird feeling in my knees.

What I like the most about MKS is that they are easy to clip in and out.

Here is the new pair of MKS pedals I have installed, the MKS MM-Cube. They were produced and sold from 2005 to 2013, and became super popular among riders back then. The pedals were reissued in 2016 in a very small batch.

We saw these pedals being quietly shown in a trade show by MKS. We didn’t know about this model and became very interested in them, so we asked if we can carry them and they said yes.

I think silver clipless pedals are pretty rare these days. They give a nice classic look to a bike, so I’m loving mine.

Yubamoto-san from MKS says that he still gets inquiries about these pedals to thiss day.

The springs feel stronger than the US-S. It feels like the pedals are holding on to your shoes nice and tight, while having the ease to clip out.

One thing you need to be careful is that it requires MKS cleats. You can’t use cleats from other brands. These MKS cleats have a wider heel which enables the riders to put more force when pedaling, compared to Shimano cleats.

Overall, this is probably my current favorite pedals. These are discontinued, so if you want a new pair of them, get them while you can.

The MKS cleats are included, but you can buy them separately, so don’t you worry! We also have the EZY model as well, for you travelers out there!
